My thoughts for the day.
Do you feel you are ready for any pandemic crisis in the U.S.?
As our Government tries to brace the citizens for the upcoming epidemic and possibly pandemic crisis, do you feel you are accurately prepared to handle what is to come?
This goes beyond the obvious that this years flu strain is worse than the current Corona-virus.
As you see in the video, the fear and panic that this spreads. Look how Italian citizens ransacked local grocery stores. There are bare shelves.
In the United States, grocery stores are stocked to handle 3 days worth of shopping in normal situations. You all know what happens (at least in the South) when snow is supposed to hit. The bread and milk aisles are bare within hours.
Now compound the issue with a possible epidemic. Do you have enough food in your house if you town becomes quarantined? Most people I know only stock enough food for a week or less. The current Government standard is to have 2 weeks on hand (on top of your weekly). They are telling the citizens that they can't get you assistance for at least 2 weeks.
Do you have the medical supplies you need in case that you need to treat a family member? What if a family member becomes sick? What are your plans to deal with that?
The stock market is on a 2 day downward trend because of this virus. This will have a cascading effect with the economy.
As I currently understand this virus, it can live "in the wild" for 72 hours. That means that the grocery cart you touch today can have the virus on it from someone 3 days ago. What about the gas pump? Think of how many people touch that in a daily basis.
There are so many paths I can go down. I will leave you with this.
Heed this warning, if you have not switched to monthly grocery shopping, do so now.
